Short Course Evaluation
I have completed the six hours online training of customer service communication. I have done really well for the first four learning objectives, then rushed through the last few objectives with some basic theoretical understanding.
Overall, this online training course is effective on an acceptable level. My skill of communication with customers have enhanced by recognising customer communication importance through reading, and interacting with learning content and material such as quiz and practical exercises which bring about my changes of understanding and perspectives. However, lack of learner-facilitator interaction in this program limits me from clarifying my confusion, and level of understanding of learning material. At the same time its stubborn teaching or interaction ways fail to keep up my learning enthusiasm, which I am a little disappointed.
This course is designed for organisational training purpose, therefore its learning objectives are well prepared for achieving customer service’s success in real life context. Learning material and content have been refined according to learning objectives.
Interaction in e-learning is vital to create excitement and interest of learning. What is good about this course?
Objectives are given before every unit, so learners can make up their own check list of learning outcome.
Skill assessment and “Think About It” exercise appear in multiple choice format, which in comparison to filling blank, or short answer is simpler to do. Also some questions used pictures as their answers can assist visual learners to form picture in mind.
Training constantly provides mini test or exercises, so that learners are able to find out their level of understanding of taught concepts against with learning objectives required, at the same time these questions summed up the last topic then leading to the next topic. I like such design in this training, because using tests or exercise make a conjunction between two topics let me feel that the topics are linked and my study without being interrupted.
Real life related examples or assumptions emerge teaching knowledge with practice.
In the left hand side, program provides helps such as clear division of course topics, relevant course or topic search agent, technical support and assistant of how to use the program, and links with other useful sites.
What are the limitations, and what to improve?
Limit discussion and feedback. Hope has more learner-facilitator, or learner-learner interactions, so that I am able to ask questions, exchange ideas, thoughts and experiences with other learners.
Limit teaching methods. Due to different people have different learning styles, (e.g. visual, learning by doing, audio, creativity, etc.) and online training is an open classroom for any learners, training program should involve different types of teaching methods to satisfy various learning styles. As well as in this way keeps up learner’s learning interest.
